“My name is Michael. I’m from Chicago, Illinois. (South Side. Go White Sox!) I’ve been in Japan since 2017 and currently reside in Yokohama. I teach English at elementary schools but I also conduct private lessons to Japanese of various years and levels: from about seven to seventy; absolute beginners to business and academic. I studied theology and philosophy in Chicago. I have a Master’s degree. I’m an aspiring novelist.

In life, I’m blessed to enjoy many things: such as movies (especially horror), novels with delicious prose, speaking very imperfect Japanese, 今敏’s anime, mountain climbing, traveling, cycling, sports, BEER, whiskey, soda water, coffee brewing, tantanmen, pizza, okonomiyaki, academics: philosophy, theology, religion, psychoanalysis, meditative studies, to name some.
