“My name is Mark and I am from Manchester in the UK. I moved to Japan in 2006. Firstly, I lived in Yokohama for five years before getting married. We moved to Akita in 2011 and I live here with my wife and two daughters (who love Sumiko Gurashi!).
In my free time, I have many interests that include sports, music and reading. I like to play football (soccer), tennis and I have recently tried Aikido! I play the guitar and ukulele, and one day I would like to try piano, too! I read fiction, history and biographies.
I have over fifteen years of experience in teaching English in Japan in areas such as conversational English, TOEIC, TOEFL, business and travel (and Kids English, too!). I also have a Masters Degree in teaching English.

I have many interests. I am into sports, particularly soccer but I also play tennis and have started Aikido. I do cardio/strength exercises every day. I love music, from The Beatles to the present day. I play guitar and ukulele and write songs in my free time. I love reading books, including history, fiction and biographies. I am also interested in researching local/family history. I really like Japanese festivals and culture, for example, yokai and folklore. I am trying to learn French as a beginner.
